Report: Dallas Stars D Stephane Robidas Signs With HIFK Helsinki

Another Dallas Star is evidently jumping ship to play in Europe while the NHL’s lockout of the NHLPA and it’s members continues. HIFK Helsinki announced on their website Monday that Stephane Robidas has signed a one-month contract, with options to extend as (when) the lockout drags on.

HIFK Helsinki is a member of Finland’s SM-liiga, where Philip Larsen is also playing (Lukko). During the last NHL lockout in 2004-2005 Robidas played with the Frankfurt Lions of the German League where he scored 47 points in 51 games and was a +14.

Robidas could be seen this morning working out with the Allen Americans in Allen as their training camp opened, and will perhaps be there the remainder of the week. IFK reports Robidas will make his debut there “next weekend.”
