Allen Americans Training Camp Begins With Kids Day Monday, October 8th

Hockey continues to bloom at every level but the top.

The Texas Stars have roared through their preseason schedule 3-0, the Texas Tornado are playing up in Frisco, and now the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League begin their camp tomorrow at Allen Event Center’s Community Rink.

Allen enters their fourth year in the CHL having established a winning tradition with a record of 128-51-17, including a trip to the Ray Miron President’s Cup (the league finals) and the Berry Conference Championship in each of their first two seasons.

The Americans held a press conference in May announcing Craig Ludwig, Mike Modano, Ed Belfour and Richard Matvichuk as minority owners and partners in the team. Matvichuk will also coach the defense and serves as Assistant General Manager. You’ll certainly glimpse him out there at camp, and likely the others as well.

Several Dallas Stars players, including (reportedly) Kari Lehtonen, Trevor Daley and several others, have been using this same sheet of ice (community ice rink) in Allen to keep in shape. Rumor has it that after Americans sessions are done this week they will continue their workouts on that same sheet of ice.

The Americans open their schedule in just 13 days at home against Arizona on October 20th.
