Heiskanen is a smooth, smart, puck-moving defenseman that played big minutes for HIFK In the Finnish Elite League in the 2016-17 season, picking up 10 points in 37 games.

He’s also been a staple for Finland at international junior events over the last two years. He was part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2016 IIHF U18s, then played for his home country at the 2017 World Juniors as a 17 year-old. Most recently, he won silver at this year’s U18s, scoring a whopping 12 points in seven games while also being named Best Defenseman of the tournament.

With Heiskanen, the Stars have a dynamic left-shot defenseman that could play on the team’s top pairing in a few years alongside John Klingberg or Julius Honka.
