The Dallas Stars released their 2023-24 regular season schedule today. They season starts and ends with the St. Louis Blues, with the Stars opening the regular season at home versus the Central Division foes on October 12th and ending it against the same opponent on April 17th.

There’s some very interesting notes in looking through the schedule.

The first is that it’s a fairly balanced schedule. By month, the team will play seven games in October (four home/three road), 14 in November (six home/eight road), 14 in December (eight home/six road), 14 in January (eight home/six road), 13 in February (four home/nine road), 13 in March (six home/seven road), and seven in April (six home/one road).

The heaviest road month is February, but surprisingly the longest road trip of the season is only four games long (Jan. 18-23, Feb. 19-24, Mar. 24-30). The longest home stand of the season is five games, which occurs three times in the year – Nov. 14-24, Dec. 29-Jan. 6, Mar. 12-22.

January 4-13 is going to be a tough stretch, with six straight games against divisional opponents. If you stretch back to December 18, 11 of 14 games will be against Central Division teams, the hardest part of the schedule by far from that standpoint.

The Stars will play the night before and the night after Thanksgiving at home. Chicago will be the opponent in the traditional New Years Eve game. Presidents Day will feature the Stars playing a day game in Boston.

Some marquee opponents you might want to circle on the calendar for their annual appearance include:
– Toronto Maple Leafs (October 26)
– Boston Bruins (November 6)
– Tampa Bay Lightning (December 2)
– Montreal Canadiens (January 2)
– Pittsburgh Penguins (March 22)

The first glimpse of 2023 first round draft pick Connor Bedard playing at the American Airlines Center will be December 29th when the Chicago Blackhawks come to town for the first of a double-header in Dallas at the end of the year.

The Western Conference Final rematch with the Vegas Golden Knights will come in the second game of the season when the Stars hit the road at T-Mobile Arena on October 17th.
