The Dallas Stars have announced that the team has signed Ty Dellandrea to a one year, $900,000 contract.

Dellandrea played in all 82 games for the Stars during the 2022-2023 season, scoring 9 goals with 19 assists. To date, the first round 2018 draft pick (13th overall) has played 109 NHL games, scoring 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists).

In addition, Dellandrea has three goals in 16 playoff games over his career.

Last season, the 22 year old Right Winger/Center bounced around the Stars lineup, at times getting top six time, but ended the season primarily playing on the fourth line.

The one year discounted deal can be viewed as a show-me contract. Early expectations had the deal estimated at around $1.5 million.

The signing puts the Stars temporarily over the salary cap and fills out the teams 23 player NHL roster: not an issue over the off-season. It is expected that Gavin Bayreuther will be waived prior to the start of the regular season for assignment to the AHL Texas Stars.

For the coming season, Dellandrea is expected to be in the mix for a fourth line role, along with Radek Faksa and newcomers Sam Steel and Craig Smith.
