Dallas Stars Daily Links: Honka, Dickinson Draw In As The Stars Face The Ducks

The Dallas Stars want to get back to their winning ways immediately if not sooner. They’ll get the chance tonight at 7 p.m. Central time against the Anaheim Ducks, and they’re rolling some new combos in response.

Head coach Jim Montgomery is switching up the roster, and Julius Honka gets the nod tonight that he almost got against the Toronto Maple Leafs, reports Mark Stepneski:

Montgomery said he considered putting Honka in against Toronto but opted to wait one game before getting the 22-year-old in for his first game of the season.

”We thought Toronto was a good matchup for Julius, like we think that Anaheim is, but we thought it was a little unfair to put him in his first game against Toronto,” Montgomery said. “In hindsight, I am glad we didn’t because Toronto played faster than anything we see.”

In addition, Jason Dickinson is practicing on Radek Faksa’s left wing as Monty seeks to activate some third-line scoring:

“You’re always looking for it,” Montgomery said of depth scoring. “I didn’t want to mess with our top line. We thought about it, but they are just playing too well right now, and we’ll wait until they cool down before we make a move there.”
