The Dallas Stars announced Sunday afternoon the trimming of their training camp roster by 14, in addition to the day’s earlier news that Scott Glennie and Cameron Gaunce were placed on waivers.
Jason Dickinson has been sent back to juniors, while Jack Campbell, Matej Stransky, Troy Vance, Taylor Peters, Henri Kiviaho and Gemel Smith highlight the group being sent to Cedar Park for the opening of Texas Stars training camp.
Notable names remaining are Curtis McKenzie, Radek Faksa, Brett Ritchie, Travis Morin, Brendan Ranford, Jamie Oleksiak, John Klingberg, Jyrki Jokipakka, Patrik Nemeth and Julius Honka. Those will help fill out rosters in back-to-back contests Monday and Tuesday before more are sent to Cedar Park or elsewhere, and the full-time NHL sessions begin with over a week of practice leading up to opening night.
Some of the released PTO’s will no doubt end up in Texas.
Let the speculation on position battles in light of the continued absences of Brenden Dillon and Cody Eakin begin. They have options.
