Video: Highlights from Dallas Stars 4-2 Win Over the St. Louis Blues

There might not have been a stream, there might not have been radio, heck, there might not have been even live, detailed scoreboard updates from the Dallas Stars 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday in Kansas City, but at least there are highlights to show how the game shook out.

It’s interesting to see how things shook out:

  • The first Blues goal happened after a pass from Alex Goligoski to Tyler Seguin hit Seguin in the foot, causing a turnover deep in the Stars defensive zone. The quick turnaround put Jyrki Jokipakka in a bad spot, as his gap on Robby Fabbri had gotten too large to allow him to step up and contest the shot.
  • The first Stars goal was a nice 2-on-1 with Jamie Oleksiak (!) and a very excited Branden Troock, who got his first NHL preseason game and goal at the Sprint Center.
  • I enjoyed Steve Ott’s tenure in Dallas as much as anyone, and I appreciate his antics in general, but I have no problem with Antoine Roussel jumping on him for the hard interference he put on Matej Stransky. Looked like a pretty solid fight too.
  • The puck movement on the power play makes me want to throw confetti. Both goals came directly off it.
  • Jokipakka and Goligoski got walked by Paul Stastny on the Blues second goal. Of all the guys on the ice to let walk right between both of you, that’s probably pretty low on the list. Goligoski in particularly looks like he got caught wrong-footed by some sort of fake. Given a player of Stastny’s skill, though, it happens.
  • Erik Cole gets an uncredited assist on the Stars fourth goal – he was providing a great screen for Kevin Connauton’s shot.
