The United States will play Team Canada on Friday. And on Thursday as well.
The women’s half of the 2014 Winter Olympic hockey tournament comes to a dramatic conclusion tomorrow morning, on NBC PROPER, no less, (fancy!) as the only two powerhouses in the female sector of the sport collide for their fourth gold medal match. Canada leads those prior meetings 2-1.

Canada defeated the U.S. 3-2 in preliminary play, and the American bounced back with a trouncing of the Swedes, out-shooting them 70-9 in the 6-1 to earn yet another spot in the top game.
The Washington Post reports that the U.S. women are well aware of the challenge that faces them, despite that dominating victory over Sweden.
After losing to Canada in the preliminary round, the United States women’s hockey team gathered for a film session that was lengthier and more pointed than any previous one the players could remember.
“Whenever film sessions run 30 minutes or longer, it’s not the happiest moment,” U.S. forward Monique Lamoureux said Wednesday after the team’s last full practice before a rematch against Canada in the gold medal game. “I got called out, and a lot of people did. We took it to heart.
“After that, we felt a lot better because we know we can do better and we will do better.” [Washington Post]
Canada barely got past Switzerland in the semi so despite their victory over the United States just a week ago the Americans are actually favored to win this game, slightly. Very slightly.

Ski Cross, Nordic Combined (men’s team event), the women’s curling medal matches where Canada will take a silver or a gold, ski half-pipe continues, and there will be a nauseating quantity of women’s long program figure skating presented.
Ski halfpipe is pretty cool. For a judged event, which are generally the worst. Sorry, “scored” events.
