St. Louis Blues Lights Up The Power Play, Defeat Dallas Stars 4-1

Hockey can be difficult to watch on TV on any given day. You have to train yourself to pay more attention to the players themselves than that little black puck shooting around your screen. High definition TVs improved the viewing experience immensely, and watching hockey got easier for everyone.

Sadly, the fast pace of the game can be difficult to convey via a radio feed, and that’s what we had tonight as the Stars took on the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis. While we learned quite a bit about obscure jerseys spotted in the rink and the shortcomings of the Missouri Department of Transportation when scheduling construction on major highways in the area, we did not hear as many plays described on the radio broadcast than we are used to.

So, here’s what we do know: a game was played between two teams. The Blues scored more goals than the Stars, with several coming on the power play, while the Stars seemed to struggle to generate offense.

For the third game in a row, the Stars were able to manufacture a healthy amount of power play opportunities, with Jason Spezza capitalizing on the man advantage in the first period. Also for the third game in a row, the Stars held the opposition to 15 shots on goal or less through two periods. It seems to be a trend now, and if you limit shots on goal you’re going to limit the chances against. Let’s hope they keep doing that when the games really count.

At the end of the day, all players on the Stars side came out of the match relatively unscathed and ultimately that’s the end result the fans would prefer to see at this time given the slew of injuries that have happened to the Stars forwards of late.
