The past month for the Allen Americans has been plenty eventful. After getting off to a bit of a bumpy start, the lines have started to click and the goaltending for Allen has been pretty solid.
The Past Month:
Allen has been on an absolute tear over the past month or so. They’ve accumulated a 15-6-4 record for 34 points in standings since our last update. They have a points percentage of .672 which is third best in the CHL and puts them on pace for 88 points on the season. That pace is a little off of last year’s President Trophy winning pace of .735 points percentage and 97 points. The Americans are trying to make their third playoff appearance in as many years.
The Present Standings:
Allen currently sits in second place in the Berry conference with 43 total points. They are one point behind the first place Wichita Thunder with one more game played.
Looking ahead:
The first half of the Americans’ schedule included a lot of road trips, and their February and March has a lot more home dates on it. Plenty of opportunities to get up to Allen and check out some of the guys that are a part of the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche systems.

Roster Moves:
Several Allen Americans players are on call-ups with AHL teams. Defensemen Mike Berube is with the Texas Stars, as they were down to only 6 healthy D at one point with all of the injuries in the Dallas Stars these past few weeks. Dylan King, another defensmen from Allen, is playing with the Lake Erie Monsters, the Colorado Avalanche’s AHL affiliate. With the recent rash of injuries to the Anaheim Ducks’ goalies, Marco Cousineau gets the call to the Syracuse Crunch as both of their AHL goalies will be seeing time in Anaheim in the near future. Trevor Ludwig returns from his stint with the Syracuse Crunch. Spencer Edwards decided to return to attend college, and Lachlan Macintosh retired mid-season.
All-Stars:
Allen will be sending several players to the CHL All-Star game that is being hosted in Arizona this week. With Dylan King on call-up to the Lake Erie Monsters, the Colorado Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, defensemen Scott Langdon will be going to the All-Star game. With Cousineau up in Syracuse, chances are his spot will be filled on the All-Star roster even though he was selected. Head Coach Dwight Mullins, along with trainer Jason Wallace and Americans broadcaster Tommy Daniels will also be at the All-Star game, with Daniels calling the game and Mullins behind the bench.
The Line Brawl:
The Americans’ latest game has drawn national attention, with Puck Daddy picking up this story. The Allen Americans, in a game against the Laredo Bucks, saw the play get chippy. After the chippiness, it got down right punchy:
Between the two teams, 302 penalty minutes were handed out over the course of the entire game. The boxscore for the penalties reads almost like a fight card, with penalties and game misconducts even handed out to Allen Americans coaches Dwight Mullins and Bill MacDonald. According to Puck Daddy:
You read that right: Dwight Mullins, former Saskatoon Blade and Minnesota North Stars pick, as given two game misconducts for abuse of officials, sending a puck across the ice in protest. Good times.
