The Winter Classic today is being hosted at Notre Dame and features the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins. Puck drop is at 12 PM CST on NBC.

If the rumor turns out to be true, it’s likely to be an outdoor game played at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park. Hopefully that means Big Tex is invited.
No word that we’ve seen of who the opponent would be. Given the state of the team and the fact that they have been in nearly every one of the most recent outdoor games (seemingly) I would hope it will be anyone but the Chicago Blackhawks. Could they try to tap into the City’s natural despisement of Philadelphia? Would it be a Central Division opponent whose fans think Dallas stole their team? (The State of Hockey would riot if Dallas hosted a Winter Classic featuring the Minnesota Wild and it wasn’t in Minnesota. Let’s call this the maximum pettiness pick, and we are here. for. it.) Maybe another non-traditional market that’s dominant like the Nashville Predators or the Tampa Bay Lightning?
