Heika: Dallas Stars Agree to Terms with New Head Coach Lindy Ruff

The Dallas Stars have waited and waited and they’re not going to wait any more. According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News Jim Nill and company have agreed to terms with Lindy Ruff and he will indeed become the next coach of the Dallas Stars.

We’ll not hedge and sandbag and caution any longer, because it’s Heika. This is happening and evidently it’s happening today.

With Alain Vigneault safely ensconced in New York this seemingly clears the way for John Tortorella to be hired by the Vancouver Canucks, completing a swap with the Rangers, while Colorado settles with Patrick Roy. Dave Tippett is free then to go to… Seattle?

We’ll have much more on this throughout the day as quotes become available via press conferences and other media appearances, but for now it looks like Nill’s biggest item on the list can be checked off and the attention fully applied to the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and the start of free agency on July 5th.

Welcome to Dallas, Lindy Ruff.
