Gameday Thread: Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers

The Dallas Stars homecoming celebration train pulls into one of its final stops tonight at Rexall Place as the Stars take on the Edmonton Oilers in a late night game.

It’s the only trip the Stars will make to Edmonton this regular season (thank you for that, NHL schedule makers), which means its the only chance former Oilers captain Shawn Horcoff will have to visit his old stomping grounds.

The Oilers are a mystery wrapped in an enigma once again, a team with a ridiculously dangerous lineup on paper that just cannot seem to get consistent wins. Things have gotten so bad up north that they signed much maligned goalie Ilya Bryzgalov to a one-year deal last week, though he won’t play tonight.

The Stars, meanwhile, have been riding high on the road recently but are coming off a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in their brief stop at home, and the team has also lost second-line left winger Ray Whitney to a nebulous lower-body injury.
