The Dallas Stars announced today that they have recalled goaltender Jake Oettinger from the Texas Stars.
Despite a slow start to his professional career, Oettinger has a strong .912 SV% in 35 games played with Texas, including three shutouts. He ranks third in most games played by a rookie goaltender and is second to only Joey Daccord of the Belleville Senators terms of save percentage (.915 SV% in 24 games).
Oettinger is expected to backup Anton Khudobin tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. Ben Bishop will be out unexpectedly with a lower body injury:

Jake Oettinger is now the Stars’ third pick from the 2017 NHL Draft to make his NHL debut, joining Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson. That being said, it is unlikely he sees any action barring Anton Khudobin getting injured as well.

FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Jake Oettinger from the Texas Stars, Dallas’ top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Oettinger, 21, has appeared in 35 AHL games with Texas in 2019-20 and owns a 12-16-4 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.62 goals against average with three shutouts in his first full AHL campaign. Oettinger is tied for sixth in the AHL and first among rookie goaltenders with three shutouts this season, while he also ranks second among League rookies with a .912 SV% and third with a 2.62 GAA.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound native of Lakeville, Minn. was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (26th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
