Dallas Stars Release Roster For Traverse City Prospect Tournament

On Tuesday afternoon the Dallas Stars officially announced the team’s roster for the upcoming 2015 Traverse City Prospect Tournament.

The yearly event, hosted in Traverse City, Michigan, features the top prospects from eight NHL teams in a highly-competitive four-game warm-up before they head off to various training camps further into the fall. This year’s iteration will feature young up-and-comers from the Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.

The Stars took part in last year’s tournament, losing 3-2 in overtime in the championship game to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Many of Dallas’ top young stars will be there, including Julius Honka, Radek Faksa, Jason Dickinson, Esa Lindell and Stephen Johns. Denis Guryanov, the team’s 1st round selection from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, is already playing hockey over in Europe and will not be in attendance. A trio of undrafted WHL forwards – Mads Eller, Brandon Magee and Chase Witala – are all playing with the team on an invite basis.

While this tournament is short-lived, it will still give the Stars brass an extra opportunity to evaluate the organization’s prospects in game scenarios, information that could help to determine where these players find themselves playing this upcoming season.

The event begins on September 11th and goes until September 15th. The full Dallas Stars roster can be found here.
