Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Stransky Impresses With Eight Points In Three Games

Matej Stransky wasn’t the only Dallas Stars prospect to have a good week with John Klingberg getting right back into it and Brett Ritchie continuing to score goals. Alex Guptill and his Michigan team have this week off, perhaps a good thing for Guptill who has struggled to score points recently.

Radek Faksa only scored a single assist in three games this week but continues to perform well in a more defensive role. Though we might like him to score more points its more the way that he is being utilised rather than his inability to score.

Brett Ritchie continues to do what hes best at – score. Its almost certain that he will earn a place on the Canadian WJC team this year. He had three goals through two games this week earning second star honours in the first game and third star honours in his second.

Gemel Smith has played three games this week and got two assists through those games. In his first game of the week, where he scored a single assist, he earned first star honours.

Mike Winther scored three points, all assists, through his three games this week. He is currently second on his team in points, behind Mark McNeil, with 30 points through 29 games this season. He continues to impress.

Matej Stransky has had an excellent week with 8 points through three games. In the Blades 9-0 victory over the Regina Pats on Saturday Stransky had two goals, two assists, +4 and earned first star honours. They also won their back to back game against the Pats. They won 7-0 on Sunday with Stransky scoring two goals, an assist and earning second star honours during the game.

Troy Vance had a good week scoring two points in his first game of the week, a goal and an assist. He went pointless in his second game.

In Sweden Emil Molin had a mixed week playing in his first two games but being scratched for the third. In the first two games of the week he played an average of 9 minutes and went pointless.

Ludwig Bystrom had a single goal through three games and continues to be on Modo’s second defensive pairing. He is averaging just over 10 minutes of ice time per game.

Despite Klingberg being scratched in the first game of the week he played just under 20 minutes on average for Skelleftea in the last two games. In his final game of the week he had two assists. This is a good return to form for Klingberg and hopefully he will be able to carry it on.

Jyrki Jokipakka hasn’t registered a point this week but his IIves team appears to be solidifying with the goaltending of Anders Lindback. He continues to average about 24 minutes of ice time per game.

Esa Lindell appears to have moved down to the second division in Finland again on a more permanent basis. He had only played in the SM-Liiga in recent weeks because of injury problems that had struck Jokerit. Lindell has a goal and an assist through two games this week for Kiekko Vantaa.

In the NCAA Scott Winkler has two assists through two games, Curtis McKenzie has a single assist through two games and Devin Shore has gone pointless. Dmitry Sinitsyn was rotated out of Umass Lowell’s side for their game this week. As mentioned Alex Guptill’s Michigan side did not play this week.

Branden Troock continues to be out injured for the Seattle Thunderbirds due to an upper body injury suffered early in the season.
