Dallas Stars Prospect Update: European Prospects Advance While OHL Prospects Struggle

NOTE: This update was written before Sunday evening’s games.

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Nicholas Caamano and the Flint Firebirds went out in the first round of the OHL playoffs.

Caamano played three games this week in the series against Sault Ste. Marie but went pointless. They lost the series 4-1 overall.

He had three points in five games in the postseason and 64 in 67 games in the regular season.

Chris Martenet played four games for the Ottawa 67s this week and went pointless through all of them.

His season also ended after the 67s dropped their first season match up against the Mississauga Steelheads 4-2.

WHL

Ondrej Vala played three games this week for the Kamloops Blazers as they face the Kelowna Rockets in their first round matchup.

He went pointless through the three games with the Rockets up 3-2 in the series. Game six was due to take place on Sunday evening.

NCAA

Minnesota Duluth and Riley Tufte play in the Frozen Four semifinal on Thursday, April 6 against Harvard.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson got his second game of the postseason as he was in the lineup as HV71 faced Malmo in the second round. He played only a couple of minutes on Saturday and went pointless.

John Nyberg played three games for Frolunda as they advanced past Skelleftea and started their second round series against Brynas.

Nyberg went pointless through the games but averaged around 20 minutes of ice time in each of the games.

Finland

Roope Hintz had a strong week in the Liiga playoffs as HIFK advanced to the semifinals.

He had four points in three games as they came from behind to beat TPS.

On Wednesday he had a goal and two assists as they beat TPS 5-2, before adding another assist as HIFK clinched the series on Thursday.
