Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Ondrej Vala Scores Teddy Bear Goal

NOTE: This update was written before Sunday evening’s games.

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Nicholas Caamano played two games this week for the Flint Firebirds and finished with two points.

He scored an evening goal during a 4-0 shutout of the Niagara Icedogs on Friday. Highlights of the game can be found here.

Caamano also had one assist as Flint faced the London Knights on Sunday evening.

Chris Martnet played two games for the London Knights this week and went pointless through both games.

He has two points, both assists, during 16 games.

WHL

Ondrej Vala had a good week in the WHL, finished with two points in two games for the Kamloops Blazers.

He got an assist on an even strength goal just 17 seconds into the first period during a 4-3OT win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Vala would add a goal during a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday. He would be named third star of the game for his efforts.

His goal caused hundreds of teddy bears to rain onto the ice. Highlights of the game and the teddy bear throw can be found here.

NCAA

Despite Michael Prapavessis having a good week in the NCAA it wasn’t enough to get the RPI Engineers their fourth win of the season.

Prapavessis had a pair of assists for the Engineers as they lost 6-5 in overtime to Princeton on Saturday.

Joseph Cecconi played in two games for Michigan, both losses, and finished pointless in both games.

He played on the first or second defensive pairings for both games.

Rhett Gardner only played one game this week as North Dakota faced off against Boston College at Madison Square Garden. North Dakota took the win, 4-3, but Gardner went pointless in the effort.

He did however receive a game misconduct and a five minute major for facemasking late in the second period.

Facemasking is when a player grabs or holds an opponents facemask.

Riley Tufte was not in action this week as Minnesota Duluth does not play again until December 9.

Colton Point got his first win of the season as Colgate beat Arizona State 3-2. Point made two saves on 13 shots in the win.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson played three games for HV71 this week and finished with a single assist.

He got the assist as HV71 lost 4-3 to Malmo on Tuesday. Hansson now has seven points this season.

John Nyberg added another assist to his totals this week. He played in two games for Frolunda and had an assist as they beat Lulea 4-0 on Friday.

He has seven points this season in the SHL as well.

Fredrik Karlstrom played four games for AIK in the Allsvenska this week. He finished with a single goal.

Sweden’s preliminary World Junior Championship roster was also announced this week. Despite Karlstrom’s success in the Allsvenska, with 17 points in 23 games, he was not named to the squad.

Jakob Stenqvist played two games for MODO in the Allsvenska and finished pointless in both contests.

Finland

Roope Hintz played four games this week for HIFK and finished with a single assist. He got the assist during a 3-2 win against HPK on Wednesday.

He was named second star of the game for his efforts. Highlights of the game can be found here.

Aleksi Makela played two games for Assat this week and finished pointless in both.

Slovakia

Matej Paulovic played two games for HC Nove Zamky and finished pointless through both games.
