Projecting the Dallas Stars Movember Mustaches

It’s November again, which means the leaves turning in some parts of the country, the annual panic about hosting relatives for Thanksgiving and the always awesome Movember campaign.

Movember, which is designed to raise awareness of and funds for research and prevention of men’s health issues, has become a fall right of passage in the NHL. Roughly half of the players on each team grow varying levels of amazing and ridiculous facial hair in order to solicit donations to a fundraising team.

Thirteen Dallas Stars will be participating in the campaign this year, and the captain of that group is none other than Stephane Robidas. The other participants are Antoine Roussel, Jordie Benn, Alex Chiasson, Erik Cole, Brenden Dillon, Dan Ellis, Vernon Fiddler, Ryan Garbutt, Alex Goligoski, Lane MacDermid, Rich Peverley and Tyler Seguin.

Given the mustached awesomeness that has happened before this time of year, and given that Taylor stumbled upon the website Facestache.com, where you can make any picture that much better with the addition of a mustache, we decided to use our very scientific method of future facial hair prediction models to come up with the type of mustache each player will grow in the next 28 or so days.

But we aren’t going to stop with just the 13 participating players. What would the fun be in that?

If you’d like to contribute to any of the Stars’ fundraising teams, or if you’d like to start a team yourself, the official sign up site can be found here. And remember, the more money you donate, the more likely it is that more players will grow ridiculous and amusing facial hair this time next year.

(And that much more money will “support world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges,” which is certainly the best thing of all.)

Which Stars player do you think will grow the best mustache over the next month? Which player currently not participating would you most like to see grow a mustache? Head to the comments section to discuss those or to show off your own mustached projections.

[Ed. note: Taylor did all the work on the photos and some of the captions, and Erin wrote the content for the post and the rest of the captions. Both had way too much fun with this project.]
