Dallas Stars Place Matej Stransky, Justin Dowling On Waivers; Assign Others To Texas Stars

The Dallas Stars made a few roster moves in advance of their last preseason game tomorrow night in Las Vegas:

*Justin Dowling and Matej Stransky were placed on waivers. Assuming they clear tomorrow, they’ll likely be reassigned to Texas. Dowling was one center that Dallas could have tried in their bottom six because of the current injuries to the team. It seems that Adam Cracknell and Gemel Smith outperformed Dowling in camp and the preseason.

*Remi Elie, Maxime Lagace, Travis Morin, and Cole Ully were reassigned to Texas.

*The Stars signed former Minnesota Wild forward Justin Fontaine to a professional tryout (PTO).

Injury Updates

Tyler Seguin continues to skate. Though he will not play in the preseason game tomorrow, head coach Lindy Ruff reported today that he is still on track for the home opener next Thursday (October 13th).

Ales Hemsky did not skate today, which could mean that he has had a setback in his recover from a groin injury sustained during the World Cup of Hockey. This could explain why Fontaine was signed to a PTO today.

Devin Shore is ready for game action after his injury. Shore is expected to play in tomorrow night’s preseason game versus the Los Angeles Kings in Las Vegas.

Texas Rangers or Toronto Blue Jays?

Many players on the Dallas Stars team have been spotted sporting Texas Rangers hats, and several have gone out to Globe Life Park to participate in batting practice with the team. Because many of the members of the team are Canadian, a lot of them are also professed Blue Jays fans. So who do you root for: childhood team or new hometown team? Ruff was asked at practice today (video via Dallas Stars):
