Is this the Stars’ year? Even Tim Cowlishaw thinks it might be true.
Hey, DBD’ers β let’s start your week right with some Dallas Stars stuff you love to see. Today’s snack has a decided Dallas Morning News taste:
Tim Cowlishaw usually has a good 30,000-foot view of DFW sports β so it’s interesting to note that even he is talking about why this could be the season The Big One comes home.
Vive la Bennaissance: The Captain is closing in on a big (as in BIG) franchise milestone.
Matthew DeFranks may be covering the St. Louis Blues now, but he’s still bringing Stars appreciation. Here he points out a nice set play featuring The Best D-Man In The League.
And in case you missed it, here’s the opening-night intro video.

So what happened in the Dirty Central over the weekend? Let’s take a look:
- The Arizona Coyotes opened their season the best-fashioned way on Friday the 13th, defeating the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in a shootout. [Five For Howling]
- Kyle Connor got two goals and an assist in the Winnipeg Jets’ 6-4 victory over the Florida Panthers. [Arctic Ice Hockey]
- It was a close one, but the Nashville Predators came up short against two-goal scorer James van Riemsdyk and the Boston Bruins in a 3-2 decision. [On The Forecheck]
- Tyler Johnson scored twice, but the Chicago Blackhawks couldn’t close the deal in a 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. [Second City Hockey]
- The Minnesota Wild came out on the wrong end of Auston Matthews’ second consecutive hat trick in a 7-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. [NHL]
- Robert Thomas got the shootout winner in the St. Louis Blues’ home-opening victory against the Seattle Kraken. [Blue Note Hockey]
- And the Colorado Avalanche finally made it past Mackenzie Blackwood’s 51-save game with a 3-2 victory in yet another shootout. [Puck Yeti]
