Dallas looked to be in pretty good shape heading into the 3rd period tied 2-2 with Winnipeg. Then it was has become a broken record to how the Stars season has gone this year. A Patrick Laine shot off a face off win beat Antti Niemi to make it 3-2. Some sloppy passing in the Jets zone and Niemi on the bench led to 2 empty net goals making the score look worse than how close the game was.
“It’s been frustrating,” said Jason Spezza, who returned from missing five games with a shoulder injury. “It’s obviously not good enough. We know where it puts us in the standings. We know we have to do a better job.”
In a bit of good news for the Stars Darryl “Razor” Reaugh made the announcement during the game that Dave Strader would return this weekend to do play by play again and Razor would slide back into the Analyst chair.
I’m reading this & can’t quite believe it! Excited to be back w/ @Razor5Hole and rest of terrific @FOXSportsSW crew! https://t.co/yeHhyOZwuk

After missing the last 5 games Dallas welcomed back Jason Spezza last night. (NBCSN)
Stars coach Lindy Ruff coached 15 years with the Sabres before becoming Dallas’ head coach. Ruff is in the 4th and final year of his contract and this looks like it will be his last year here. DMN’s Tim Cowlishaw had this to say about the situatiion.
Lindy Ruff will be gone at the end of this season, assuming the Stars don’t win a playoff series. Ruff was Nill’s hire. Every GM gets one coaching change and then it’s on him. So the clock starts ticking on Nill after Ruff leaves. Nill has been very good for the most part. But he hasn’t addressed goaltending when he needed to, and the results aren’t what they should be for this team.

The biggest news yesterday was the 1st place Montreal Canadiens firing their coach Michel Therrien and then turning around and hiring former Boston coach Claude Julien for his 2nd stint with the Habs. Julien had just been fired last week from the underperforming Bruins. (Habs Eyes on the Prize)
Vomited out my reactions to Claude Julien’s hiring. tl;dr: Drama is great and hockey needs more of it. https://t.co/U19q93wa45
