Following the news that Antoine Roussel will be out 6-8 weeks with a hand injury—in other words, likely the rest of the season—the Stars have recalled forward Remi Elie, which counts as an emergency call up.
“He’s a good skater, heavy on the puck,” Ruff said. “I am pretty sure he’ll be excited. He plays a lot like [Roussel]. Very determined player on the forecheck and a very hard player to play against.”
Elie is in second year of pro hockey. He ranks sixth on the Texas Stars in scoring this season with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 50 games. He’s played both sides of special teams for Texas this season.
“It’s gone pretty good,” said Elie. “I’ve got more confidence, and I am playing big minutes there. I just have to keep doing what I am doing.”
