Dallas Stars Daily Links: Stars Beat Penguins 3-2; Jim Nill Talks Johnny Oduya Trade

Despite trailing after two periods, the Stars rallied in the third frame to defeat the Penguins 3-2.

Here’s the game-winning goal from Antoine Roussel.

And here’s what Brett Ritchie had to say about the victory.

The team’s win came shortly after the news that Johnny Oduya was traded back to the Blackhawks for forward Mark McNeill and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2018. GM Jim Nill explained the rationale for trading Oduya and how his injury affected that.

On trading Oduya

“Well, Johnny’s a UFA and with the situation of our team I think it’s important for us to get the most assets we can. Johnny’s been a great warrior for us the year and a half he’s been here. It gives him an opportunity to go to Chicago. They’re in the playoffs and for us, it gave us some assets for down the road.”
