Despite trailing after two periods, the Stars rallied in the third frame to defeat the Penguins 3-2.

The team’s win came shortly after the news that Johnny Oduya was traded back to the Blackhawks for forward Mark McNeill and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2018. GM Jim Nill explained the rationale for trading Oduya and how his injury affected that.

On trading Oduya

“Well, Johnny’s a UFA and with the situation of our team I think it’s important for us to get the most assets we can. Johnny’s been a great warrior for us the year and a half he’s been here. It gives him an opportunity to go to Chicago. They’re in the playoffs and for us, it gave us some assets for down the road.”
