Dallas Stars Daily Links: Tyler Seguin Speaks From BioSteel Camp

You know hockey season is finally approaching – with all deliberate speed, as it were – when it’s finally time for BioSteel Camp, and once again Tyler Seguin is repping the Dallas Stars (and #DrinkThePink) all over social media.

Sports writer and Toronto homie Lance Hornby (@SunHornby) talked hockey with Segs at the 2017 camp and was kind enough to share with his buddy, The Dallas Morning News’ Mike Heika. Every August, NHL talents like Seguin, Connor McDavid, Darnell Nurse, Wayne Simmonds, Joshua Ho-Sang, Jason Demers, Tom Wilson and Michael Del Zotto converge at St. Michael’s College in Ontario for four days of intense preseason training.

Seguin held forth on Ken Hitchcock, and on the prospect of returning full time to his position at center:

“He’s expecting a lot out of me and I’m expecting a lot out of myself. I’m looking forward to the opportunity.

….

“…I definitely feel a little more excited about playing center. It enhances my speed first and foremost. I find a lot of times when I’m on the wing I can’t really get that speed to start a play.”

He also held forth on what he wants to remember about the disappointing 2016-17 season:

“…I don’t know if I want to wipe the slate fully clean. There’s a lot from last year I can learn from, individually and as a team.

I think first and foremost it will start with how we are in camp. Last year, there were a lot of injuries. I know you don’t want to look for excuses in a season, but there was myself, [Jamie] Benn and [Devin] Shore got hurt. So I think this year is about having a good camp and having a good start to the year, not falling behind in the division. We have a lot of work to do, but were all really excited.”

There’s much more under the link. [SportsDayDFW]
