Dallas Stars Daily Links: The Stars Honor Paris (and One of Their Own) Before a 3-2 Win Over the Wild

The NHL showed its support for the city of Paris and all of France last night, as every team that played flew a virtual tricouleur and observed a moment of silence before puck drop.

The Dallas Stars employ one of only two NHL players from France, and Antoine Roussel happens also to be a star attraction for the fans in American Airlines Center. Rooster, whose parents were in Paris on the night of Nov. 13, 2015 (they’ve since reported in safe), tells Mike Heika that the support from the team (and from Stars fans) has been “huge.” [SportsDayDFW]

The Dallas Stars beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in 3-on-3 overtime last night. Someone named John Klingberg scored three points. That guy’s supposed to be hot stuff or something. [Stars Inside Edge]

“You can write whatever you want. He was pretty darn good again” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said of Klingberg.

Added Jason Spezza: “He’s not a bad player. We might keep him.”

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won their third straight game. It’s actually a pretty big deal, for them. [Sportsnet]

One two reasons the Leafs won: two (2) Vancouver Canucks goals that were called back under challenge. Questions: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller has them.

What in the name of stink was going on at the Predators–Jets game last night? Something about a humiliating blow-out getting ugly all over, I guess. The Preds won 7-0, but the most remarkable number of the night was 154, which was the combined penalty minutes served by both teams. Jakub Voracek has ended his scoring drought in the most opportune way possible, breaking his duck in overtime to help the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Carolina Hurricanes. [CSN Philly]

And the Columbus Blue Jackets have won their first game at home this season, dropping the Arizona Coyotes 5-2. [Columbus Dispatch]

The Edmonton Oilers erased two (2) two-goal leads, but not even the ongoing astonishment that is Leon Draisaitl (who wasn’t even supposed to be here today) could get them past the Los Angeles Kings. [CBC]

Meanwhile, Shane Doan got a game misconduct after a second-period altercation that earned 36 PIMs in all (out of a game-total 68). The problem with the Predators-Jets game is that now we’re all thinking, “Oh, so they only handed out 36 penalty minutes. How bad could it have been?” [Five For Howling]

FInally: Congratulations are in order for the 2014 U.S. Paralympic sled hockey team, including North Texas native Taylor Lipsett. Way to go, guys!
