Dallas Stars Daily Links: Could Stars Pursue Scott Darling or Antti Raanta?

Maybe trading for Ben Bishop or Marc-Andre Fleury isn’t the answer after all. In his latest mailbag, Sean Shapiro discusses how the Stars could potentially address their goaltending issues.

I think the required money, injury history, and overall benefit of Bishop and Fleury aren’t worth the investment.

If I were the Stars I’d look at Scott Darling, Annti Raanta, and Philipp Grubauer. All three are back-ups in their mid-20s right now, but are getting ready to enter the prime of their careers.

Is it a bit risky? Yes. Will it be tricky to make the move happen? Yes.

There’s plenty more at the link, including Shapiro’s picks on who to protect in the expansion draft (Cody Eakin over Antoine Roussel) and his thoughts on the play of Philippe Desrosiers. [Wrong Side of the Red Line]
