Dallas Stars Daily Links: Looking Back at Corey Perry’s Tenure

Most Dallas Stars fans weren’t happy when the team signed long time villain Corey Perry to a one year contract last offseason. But by the time the season was said and done, many of those same fans had come around, thanks in large part due to Perry stepping up in big games in the postseason:

“I knew (Perry) was one of those guys we definitely needed in moments to win games in moments we needed an emotional uplifting,” Stars forward Andrew Cogliano said. “He brought exactly that. I thought his best hockey as a Star was in the playoffs. I’m not surprised because that’s the type of guy and type of player he is.”

Ultimately the Stars elected not to bring Perry back for the 2020-21 season, but the veteran still looks back fondly on his time in Dallas, pleased with the team success despite his dip in personal production:

“Personally, I didn’t have the greatest of seasons in Dallas, but you come back to the playoffs and you get that close to winning, you have to say it was a successful season other than (not) winning the Cup,” Perry said. “I had a lot of fun. It definitely ranks right up there because it’s very unique. Everything exceeded my expectations.”
