The year 2013 was the 1st for the duo of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin and they had a career night in another Vintage Game of the Week. Since 2013-14 season no other duo has put up more combined points than their 630 points 269 goals and 361 assists. (Kari Lehtonen with a cameo sitting on top of net)

Since things are pretty quiet with the Dallas Stars. We can look at former players news. Alex Chiasson has had an up and down career, since leaving Big D. Should the Flames re-sign him? in 5 on 5 play he had the 4th best possession numbers on the Flames and he stepped up as an effective penalty killer. (Flame For Thought)

Texas Stars:
Defensemen Gavin Bayreuther made quite an impression in the few games he skated in with the Texas Stars including a goal in his 1st game. Known more as an offensive Dman Gavin wants to work more on his defensive game this season. (Texas Stars)
Captain Travis Morin is the only player that has skated every season for Texas since their 1st season in 2009-10. Greg Rallo was also there the 1st season but has left and returned twice.

The biggest news yesterday was the Canadiens cutting ties with defenseman Andrei Markov after 16 years with the Habs. At first I thought this was another team cutting a veteran player for somebody younger but it seems Markov wanted a 2 year deal for $6 million a year. (The Last Word on Hockey)

For a 3 year period beginning in 2010 the Oilers had the #1 overall pick. The high draft picks didn’t help their on-ice success failing to make the playoffs. Since then 2 of the selected players have been traded in lopsided deals.
Taylor Hall (picked 1st over Tyler Seguin in 2010) traded to the Devils and Nail Yakupov (2012) to the Blues. Is the last remaining #1 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011) also on his way out of Edmonton? (FanRag Sports)
