Dallas Stars Daily Links: As Dave Strader Battles Cancer, the Stars Plan For Him to Make the Calls

As Dallas Stars play-by-play man Dave Strader continues his fight with cancer, his colleagues have created a plan that will let him make the calls on the games he covers.

The Stars have planned for Strader to return to the broadcast booth, but will ensure he’s covered if he needs a night off:

If there are games Strader cannot call, Daryl Reaugh will move from the analyst’s chair into the play-by-play spot and Craig Ludwig will provide analysis. Ludwig has been providing studio analysis on the FSSW telecasts for 12 seasons. Reaugh has served as the team’s color analyst for 20 seasons.

“We want to support Dave in every way as a friend, employee and member of the family, and we believe this plan will allow Dave to make the decision, depending on how he’s feeling,” said Stars CEO and President Jim Lites. “Razor is on board and said he doesn’t mind doing either job or switching back and forth, and I know Luddy is working hard so he’s ready.”
