Dallas Stars Assign 26 Players To Texas Stars, 5 To Juniors

In anticipation of the looming NHL lockout, the Dallas Stars have assigned every eligible player to the Texas Stars and have sent five players back to their respective junior teams. 26 players in total have been assigned by the Stars to Austin, creating a bloated roster list that does not include players on AHL-only contracts, such as Mike Hedden, Josh Robinson and Josh Ryder.

Expect a number of players to be assigned to the Idaho Steelheads.

If there is one good thing to come out of the NHL lockout, it’s that we’re going to be seeing some incredibly competitive hockey in the AHL to start the season as it suddenly becomes a true “development” league as the top prospects from around the NHL will be facing off one another.

We’ll be covering the Texas Stars and Allen Americans as much as we can during the lockout, doing our best to keep our optimism going as we get to — at the very least — still watch some of the top prospects in the system take the ice. With Willie Desjardins now coaching the Stars this could certainly be a very interesting team to watch. Cody Eakin, Alex Chiasson, Brenden Dillon, Patrik Nemeth, Reilly Smith, Austin Smith and Jack Campbell are just a few of the big names that will be on display in Austin this season.
