Dallas Stars Announce 2014-2015 Broadcast Schedule

The Dallas Stars announced their official broadcast schedule this afternoon, which includes 78 games on Fox Sports Southwest in one form or another, and all 82 on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket.

Some quick math on the four nationally televised games we already know about and the 78 FSSW games means, of course, that there will be no local TXA-21 broadcasts this year- Good or indifferent for most of us, disappointing for others, no doubt. The Stars made 15 appearances on TXA-21 last season.

Also of note are 24 games now scheduled to air on Fox Sports Southwest PLUS, as the Stars give way to the Rangers, Mavericks and college football, presumably. Most major carriers now include FSSW+ in beautiful HD locally in DFW. I recommend FiOS.

And in case you missed it in the off-season, Josh Bogorad joins Sevy and Luds on the television broadcast, while former Texas Stars broadcaster Owen Newkirk gets called up to the big leagues to work with our friend Bruce Levine on the radio side. Stu Barnes is also set to join the television crew on occasion.

The release…

FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Stars President and CEO Jim Lites, in conjunction with FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President and General Manager Jon Heidtke, and Vice President and Market Manager of Cumulus Media, Dallas/Fort Worth Dan Bennett announced today the club’s 2014-15 regular season broadcast schedule. Seventy-eight of the team’s 82 regular season contests will be televised locally in high-definition on FOX Sports Southwest with 24 of those scheduled to air on FOX Sports Southwest PLUS.

In addition to the game’s being televised locally, a total of four Stars games will be broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network: Jan. 4 at Chicago, Feb. 22 at Minnesota, March 1 vs. Anaheim and April 8 at Anaheim.

FOX Sports Southwest returns for its 22nd year broadcasting Stars telecasts, featuring 78 games this season beginning with the season-opener on Thursday, Oct. 9 when the Stars host the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m.

Ralph Strangis and Daryl “Razor” Reaugh return to the booth as the Stars’ television and radio broadcast team for the 19th consecutive season. Strangis begins his 25th season as the Stars’ play-by-play announcer, while Reaugh is set to serve in his 19th season as the team’s color analyst.

FOX Sports Southwest’s comprehensive coverage includes “Stars Live” pregame and postgame shows before and after every game, hosted by Josh Bogorad and joined by a rotating panel including Brent Severyn, Craig Ludwig and Stu Barnes. Ali Lucia will serve as an ice-level reporter on FOX Sports Southwest for each home game. Other Stars related programming on FOX Sports Southwest includes “Stars Insider”, a weekly magazine show hosted by Lucia and Julie Dobbs.

Sportsradio 1310 and 96.7 FM The Ticket enters its sixth season as the flagship home of Dallas Stars hockey and will broadcast all 82 regular season games, as well as the team’s preseason contest on Tuesday, Sept. 30 against Tampa Bay. Bruce LeVine enters his fifth season co-hosting Dallas’ pre-game, intermission and post-game radio shows. Joining LeVine in his first season as Dallas Stars radio co-host will be Owen Newkirk. The all-sports station broadcasts on both 1310 AM and 96.7 FM.
