Dallas Stars 2013 Development Camp Rosters & Schedule

The 2013 Dallas Stars Development Camp is scheduled to get underway this week, beginning on Thursday and then running through Tuesday, concluding with a full scrimmage and autograph session for the public on Wednesday, July 10. There will also be a ball hockey clinic with youth hockey players and children from the Boys and Girls Club of Collin County on Monday.

As always, development camp will be held at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco and is free and open to the public.

This will be Stars’ fans first shot at seeing prized draft pick Valeri Nichushkin in action, as the first-round draft pick will be joined by five other 2013 NHL Draft selections — including Jason Dickinson, Cole Ully, Remi Elie, Nicholas Paul and goaltender Philippe Desrosiers. There will also be a number of camp invites not signed or drafted by the Stars, including several players hailing from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

These camps are not just a way to evaluate a number of the prospects in the system, but also a means of acclimating a number of young players to professional hockey — proper training and nutritional habits are also taught along with the on-ice instruction.

This year’s roster will be a bit different than what we saw in the past, as several of the top prospects in the Stars system have graduated out of the program. Brett Ritchie, Reilly Smith, Scott Glennie, Alex Chiasson, Patrick Nemeth and Jamie Oleksiak will all not be attending camp this year. Matej Stransky, Troy Vance, Radek Faksa, Emil Molin, Devin Shore — just a few of the names that now highlight the list.

Defending Big D will be attending camp on Friday and Saturday for certain, so feel free to come on out and say hello. These camps are usually fairly popular with fans, although it must be noted that most of the on-ice portions of camp are nothing more than drills. Still, this is an exciting way to get to know the up-and-coming players in the system who could be making an impact in the NHL a bit further down the line.
