Dallas Stars Reassign Chris Mueller To AHL; Announce Television Schedule Changes

The Dallas Stars reassigned forward Chris Mueller to the Texas Stars of the AHL on Wednesday morning.

This implies some good news on the forward front, as Mueller was one of two emergency recalls the Stars made from Texas yesterday in order to field 12 healthy forwards against the St. Louis Blues in the wake of the Rich Peverley cardiac incident.

Now that this move has been made, we can surmise that Mueller was called up to replace Alex Chiasson, who missed the game against the Blues while dealing with some residual anxiety from the incident. Colton Sceviour was the other emergency call up, and he remains with the Stars for the time being, likely directly replacing Peverley himself.

Mueller looked like he fit in well in somewhat limited minutes against the Blues. He had several very nice scoring chances, including one in the final three minutes of regulation that Ryan Miller snagged with his glove, but was not able to find the net. He did win three of five faceoffs, which is always good against a strong possession team like St. Louis.

Here’s the official release from the team:

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has reassigned forward Chris Mueller to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Mueller, 28, was recalled by the team on March 11 and registered two shots on goal and won three of five faceoffs (60.0%) at St. Louis. He is fourth on Texas with 53 points (24-29=53) in 57 games played and tied for the AHL lead with 14 power play goals.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound native of West Seneca, New York was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 8, 2013.

In other housekeeping news, the Stars announced two tweaks to the television schedule for the rest of the season.

The game next Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins will now air on TXA 21, and the April 1 game against the Washington Capitals will now be on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.

Here is the official release on those changes.
