2014 NHL Winter Classic Watch Thread

If you’ve ever wanted to play or watch sports outside in 20 degree weather, has the NHL got an event for you.

Yes, it’s that time again, when the NHL players don eye black and funny hats for the annual Winter Classic game, one of the best regular season events of the year, It doesn’t matter that the NHL is proving why it can’t have nice things by adding five more outdoor games to the docket this year – this is the first one this year and by far the one we’ll care the most about.

The forecast for the game is a balmy 17 degrees with a light snow at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, which means the poor Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs might just freeze to the bench (or at least put the tuques on over the goalie helmets, which is always awesome).

The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Central time, though I’m sure there will be plenty of pomp and circumstance for the NBC broadcast before the puck actually drops. As a bonus, the 2014 U.S. Olympic team will also be announced at the conclusion of the game.

Feel free to discuss your general hatred for the Red Wings, apathy for the Leafs and how JerryWorld could totally host this one day (complete with fake snow!) in the thread below! We’ll return to our regularly scheduled Dallas Stars talk tomorrow.
