2014 NHL Playoffs Gameday Thread: Dallas Stars vs. Anaheim Ducks, Game 2

Now that we’ve got the playoffs jitters and nerves out of our way, let’s bear and down and focus and get back to the sort of hockey we’re used to seeing this season.

Line combinations for the game are..unknown. The Stars apparently were told to “pick their own line” today at the morning skate, but coach Lindy Ruff was rather coy on what to expect during the game tonight.

Via Mike Heika:

Q: It looked like you were juggling some lines. If that’s an indication, what makes you think Ray Whitney would be a good fit with Benn and Seguin?

RUFF: “I didn’t have the lines in colors today, so I don’t know how you can even come to that assumption. We just did a warm-up and I said any three guys go. And that’s the truth, too. I think you guys are busy chasing nothing.”

Q: Are you planning any changes as far as the lineup is concerned?

Ruff: “Yeah.”

Q: Can you share?

“No.”

What we do know — we think — is that Aaron Rome will be scratched in favor of Kevin Connauton. Who will still play next to Sergei Gonchar, who was just as bad in Game 1 as Rome. So, that’s something to look forward to.

Otherwise, it’s going to be interesting to see how Ruff adjusts his line combos and his team in this best-of-seven series and the next step is tonight at the Honda Center.

Go Stars!
