2013 NHL Draft: Dallas Stars Select Remi Elie In Second Round

The Stars have used their second round pick, 40th overall, to draft Remi Elie. He is a Left Wing from the London Knights of the OHL.

Remi Elie is an interesting pick as he is only in his first season in the OHL with a very deep and talented London Knights team. With the graduations expected next season he will step up and take an offensive step forward. He is talented and has had very few chances to show it on such a deep roster.

While his 17 points may seem low that’s from predominantly playing on the fourth line. He will take a step forward point production wise next season with the London Knights. He has the basic skill set of being a power play forward but his game is very raw at the moment. With time, he will be refined into potentially a top six power forward or a good bottom six grinding forward who can chip in offensively.

While it might appear a little high for Elie it’s not a bad pick overall.

Scouting Reports:

McKeen’s Hockey

Reported to camp in tip-top shape to land a fourth-line spot – and distinguished himself as a responsible role player .. gradually came into his own – notably during a successful postseason that led to a Memorial Cup appearance .. provided nominal offense, including a 16-game pointless skid in the second half, though did surge briefly to begin the playoffs (5-3-3-6) .. Green Valley, Ontario native was selected first-overall by Hawkesbury in the 2011 CCHL draft

International Scouting Services:

Elie plays a pro game as his North-South offensive game and work ethic to do all the small things right has brought tremendous versatility to the Knights lineup this season. Although not the biggest frame he has great strength on his feet and utilizes that strength on the net drive. He has great anticipation for defensive zone turnovers and is relentless on the puck pursuit. Remi has been a versatile forward for the Knights; expect a big rise in his offensive numbers next season.
