Video: Dallas Stars’ Antoine Roussel Featured in Puck Daddy’s Greatest Hockey Fight of 2014

There’s a reason that Antoine Roussel has quickly become not just one of the most popular players on the Dallas Stars, but also one of the most important. He scores goals, he’s a gritty and tenacious two-way forward and he’s willing to chuck knuckles when it’s time to lay it on the line.

He’s the most agitating player the Stars have, and he’s proven capable of backing himself up or standing up for teammates when called upon.

Both last season and in this one, Roussel was featured in a couple of rather memorable fights. Both have landed Roussel on Puck Daddy’s 10 greatest hockey fights of 2014 list, with his tilt with Kevin Klein of the Nashville Predators ending up in the top spot.

The full list can be found here, but let’s take a look at Roussel’s two entries.

Dallas Stars at Chicago Blackhawks: Nov. 16, 2014

Roussel isn’t exactly a well-liked person in Chicago these days, and he has a history with Andrew Shaw. In November, Shaw and Roussel dropped the gloves for one more spirited bout. From Yahoo:

No. 7: With a combined weight of Dustin Byfuglien, these two threw enthusiastically. Shaw doesn’t have 10 fights in the NHL, but he has fought Roussel twice.

Dallas Stars at Nashville Predators: Jan. 20, 2014

This was, as Razor puts it, a classic old-school rock-em-sock-em knuckle slinger between two players that were really peeved off at each other. From Yahoo:

No. 1: Roussel’s turned into a decent scrapper, but Klein? Who knew? After a scrum Klein throws the right, Roussel the left and it’s just punch after punch, visors be damned. Eric Nystrom was on the ice and called it a 10, who am I to argue?
