Stars Finish Traverse City Tournament Against Blues

The Dallas Stars prospects have not found the win column in the Traverse City tournament this year. They had a late rally that fell just short against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. On Friday, they dropped a 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets and followed that up by getting smoked by the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-3, on Sunday.

Though the results haven’t been great, that’s not really the purpose of a prospect tournament — especially right after the weirdness the hockey world has been operating under the past two years. For some, this is the first time they have been in a competitive environment in over a year. For others, it’s the first time they’ve been exposed the Dallas Stars way of doing things. The important thing is that each prospect feels they are improving as the tournament progresses and that the understanding of how the Stars want them to play is being applied.

Though you have to imagine getting a win today would be quite the confidence boost as the prospects get ready for the Stars’ training camp opening on Wednesday. (Wednesday is the technical start with off-ice testing and media day while Thursday will be the first day of on-ice work.) Because of the current pandemic, training camp is not expected to be open to the public.

You can watch the Stars in the final game of the tournament today at 11 AM CST here.
