Stars’ Traverse City Tournament Opens Against Red Wings
Plus: how to watch real live hockey now that the new season is upon us.
The Dallas Stars prospects shifted from their development camp in Frisco, Texas to Traverse City, Michigan to kickoff the unofficial start of the new NHL year. The team will take part in three games in a round-robin style tournament and test their skills against other NHL prospect pools.
The first game of the tournament kicks off tonight when the Stars will line up against the Detroit Red Wings prospects. Courtesy of Corey Pronman of The Athletic, here’s how Dallas is lining up for game one of the tournament:
Jacob Peterson - Ty Dellandrea - Riley Damiani
Frederik Karlstrom - Mavrik Bourque - Logan Stankoven
Jordan Kawaguchi - Wyatt Johnston - Yaheni Aksiantsiuk
Riley Tufte - Oscar Back - Antonio Stranges
Thomas Harley - Dawson Barteaux
Artem Grushnikov - Max Martin
Ryan Shea - Jacob Holmes
Adam Scheel
Remi Poirer
Scratched for the first game include forwards Tye Felhaber, Conner Roulette, and Francesco Arcuri as well as blueliner Luke Profaca. The Stars will be the road team in this game.
One interesting thing of note is Damiani on the right wing. Texas Stars head coach Neil Graham told media in Frisco this past weekend that they were going to work him at that position to set him up for the best shot at making the Dallas Stars roster. The depth at center in Dallas has gotten a little crowded with Jamie Benn apparently being tried at center to start the season, along with Joe Pavelski, Tyler Seguin, Radek Faksa, Roope Hintz, and Luke Glendening that can all play center too. Being able to play on the wing to start is something that a lot of young forwards need to know to do to break into the NHL, so it’s good to see Graham and his staff working to develop him for the next step in his career.
Detroit Red Wings Lines
