Stars Rally, But Not Enough, In 7-4 Loss To Panthers

Today we learned that Anton Khudobin cannot, in fact, do everything. Tyler Seguin got two goals, and Joe Pavelski earned an assist in his 1,000th game. But Noel Acciari – so hot right now – racked up his second hat trick in as many games as the Florida Panthers romped to a 7-4 win over our Dallas Stars.

Let’s cut to the chase.

First Period

The game didn’t start that badly, even though the Panthers drew first blood. Jonathan Huberdeau opened the scoring on the power play after Jason Dickinson took a slashing call against Frank Vatrano.

Then Denis Gurianov brought this almost casual beauty of a rebound retrieval to put the good guys on the board.

Alas, Anton Stralman put Florida back in the lead with about five minutes left in the period. The Victory Green gang went to the dressing room down 2-1.

Second Period

This was where the real bleeding started. Acciari’s natural hat trick was preceded by tallies from Vincent Trocheck and former Star Colton Sceviour.

Here’s Acciari completing the triple on his very first career NHL penalty shot.

At least this one didn’t go unanswered: Segs got his first donut of the night on a power-play slapper, and it’s sweet.

The period ends with the Stars down 7-2.

Third Period

The Stars tightened up in the third frame. And there went Seguin again, giving us hope.

Jamie Benn got in on the act, too – although it took a winding path to getting acknowledged as a goal.

The Captain’s actual celly face, if you please.

Sadly, the turnaround stopped there, and the Stars came away pointless.

That’s two games and two points in the Sunshine State. Now it’s back home for the Calgary Flames on Sunday. See you then.
