PSA: Hiding Images and Gifs on SBNation Websites

A discussion came up in the comments yesterday about gifs. Some people like them, some people don’t. That’s fine. We aren’t going to moderate gifs unless they are offensive or someone is either spamming or trolling or the gif is big enough to cause serious problems.

If you really don’t want to see them or the images/gifs slow your computer down, SBNation does offer a solution. In the comments it was pointed out that in your settings you can hide images before they even load. I was unaware of this feature, but in looking into it doing this is pretty simple. If you want to do this here is a quick guide for how to do it.

First you want to go to your profile page. To do this you go to your username at the top right corner of the website.

Once there click on the drop down menu under your display picture. Go to the setting that says Account & Settings.

In the Site Preferences section you have the option “Display images in comments?” Change this option to no.

There usually aren’t that many gifs and images in the comments section, but there was enough concern raised that I wanted to make sure anyone who wants this option knows it is available.
