Patrick Eaves Scores Intelligent Goal Against Chicago Blackhawks

As of this writing your Dallas Stars are leading the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 on the 9th goal of the season by Patrick Eaves and Tyler Seguin’s powerplay goal. Let’s take a moment to focus on the Eaves goal. It was a nifty little goal after the Chicago defense broke down during a Stars rush.

Alex Goligoski brought the puck into the zone skillfully. Eaves drove the net like he is supposed to and the Blackhawks completely forgot about him.

Eaves1

Patrick Sharp engaged Goligoski. Duncan Keith kind of just stands there. Michal Rozsival isn’t covering anyone. Marian Hossa is skating back at half speed not really doing much helpful either.

Eaves2

Hossa recognized the problem and started to skate after Eaves, but it was too late. Eaves got behind the defense with speed and Goligoski got the puck to him perfectly. Eaves buried the puck and made no doubt about the result of the play. This was an excellent offensive set worth quickly highlighting finished by a player who should have a prominent role in 2016.

Enjoy the rest of the game.
