Stars, Avalanche Full Round Schedule Set

With the Philadelphia Flyers eliminating the Montreal Canadiens out East and the Vancouver Canucks sending the defending Stanley Cup champions home last night, the NHL has set the full schedule for Round 2 of this year’s playoffs.

As reported yesterday, the Stars get just one day off between the end of their first round when they eliminated the Calgary Flames on Thursday night and dropping the puck on Round 2 tonight at 7 PM CDT. It’ll be a primetime NBC appearance, a decision driven in part because there were no game sevens on the schedule after so many of the first round matchups ended earlier.

They’ll be the only NHL game running today, providing a spotlight for players like Miro Heiskanen, Denis Gurianov, Cale Makar, and Nathan MacKinnon to shine.

The rest of the round’s schedule doesn’t provide much ret between games for the two teams. For the Dallas Stars, that’s a bit of a negative since starting goaltender Ben Bishop, defensive forward and penalty-killing specialist Mattias Janmark, and top four blueliner Stephen Johns have all been unfit to play recently.

Here’s the full schedule and broadcast information (note that from this round forward, all games are on the NBC family of channels, so no more Fox Sports Southwest broadcasts…tune your ears accordingly):

Game 1: Saturday, August 22nd @ 7 PM CDT (NBC)
Game 2: Monday, August 24th @ 8:45 PM CDT (NBCSN)
Game 3: Wednesday, August 26th @ 9:30 PM CDT (NBCSN)
Game 4: Friday, August 28th @ 9 PM CDT (NBCSN)
Game 5 (if needed): Sunday, August 30th [time/channel TBD]
Game 6 (if needed): Monday, August 31st [time/channel TBD]
