Mike Modano to be Honored with Lifetime Community Service Award by City House
Modano will receive the charity's inaugural "Invisibile Thread Award."
The year of Mike Modano continues. Number retirement. Hall of fame nomination. Twins. People can't stop giving him stuff- now including noted local charity City House, which benefits at-risk youth due to homelessness and abuse. Modano will be the recipient of a lifetime community service award at this event on September 6th in Frisco at the Embassy Suites.
Yet another chance to support Mike this year if you're so inclined, and it sounds like a fun opportunity to get out of the house on a Saturday night and do some good.

Mike Modano, who has been an all-star individual on and off the ice for North Texas since 1993, will be receiving a special community service award at the City House Black & White Masquerade Gala, presented by Albertsons, slated for Saturday, Sept. 6.
City House, which has been helping at-risk youth due to abuse, neglect or homelessness for over 26 years, holds this gala every fall as one of its biggest fundraising event of the year. The Gala, held at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Frisco, will be hosted by honorary chair Babe Laufenberg of channel 11 sports, with former Dallas Cowboys greats Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Randy White serving as co-chairs.
Modano will be given the inaugural "Invisible Thread Award," given for his contributions to the North Texas community, including his support and involvement with City House. The Mike Modano Foundation has been a friend and supporter of City House and its efforts to help children for several years, including serving as honorary chair for its 2012 gala.
"I am honored to be receiving this inaugural award from the great people at City House," Modano said. "The work that they do with local children resonates with me and I am proud to be associated with them. I am very much looking forward to the Gala."
