Jamie Benn Wins 2015 Art Ross Trophy As NHL Scoring Champion

John Tavares scored a goal tonight and had an assist in Columbus.

Sidney Crosby has been held pointless against the Buffalo Sabres somehow.

Jamie Benn is this year’s NHL scoring champion. He had three goals and an assist tonight. Benn scored an empty net goal late for a hat trick. Benn assisted on on Cody Eakin’s goal with eight seconds left to win it.

Dallas Stars have finished the season in the top ten in scoring nine times since the team moved to Dallas. Mike Modano did it three times. Brad Richards did it twice. Benn and Tyler Seguin have now both done it twice. Benn’s win is the first time a Dallas Star has won the Art Ross Trophy.

This has been a disappointing season overall, but this bright spot at the end is a fantastic way to finish the year. Many congrats to the Dallas Stars captain on what is hopefully just one of many awards he picks up in his career.

We’ll have more breakdown of his season in the coming days.
