The Dallas Stars are heating up on the ice just as their hometown battles snow and sleet. Riding a six-game point streak and a five-game winning surge, the Stars head to Philadelphia on Thursday to face the Flyers in the second game of their five-game road trip.
Dallas rallied from three-goal deficit against New York on Tuesday to win 5-4 in OT and keep their six-game point streak alive. Jamie Benn added the overtime winner, his 11th goal of the season, and Thomas Harley added a goal and two assists.
As snow and ice grip the Metroplex, the Stars will try to bring their own storm on the road and look to keep their hot streak alive in Philly.
How to watch: You can watch the puck drop at 6 p.m. from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Victory+. As always, catch the radio call on The Ticket.
Philly on the Skid
The Flyers have lost eight of their last 11 games (outscored 45-33 in that span), including a pair of 3-2 losses to the Maple Leafs in their last two games. Philly sits in sixth place in the Metro Division but only 3 points out of a wild card spot.
Matchup History
Dallas has had the upper hand over Philly in recent years, boasting an 8-2 record in the last 10 matchups. Six of those victories were by multiple goals. However, the Stars did drop their most recent game against the Flyers, a 5-1 loss on Jan. 18, 2024. Fans might recall this highlight-reel goal scored by Flyers forward Owen Tippett (A similar-looking goal to Mason Marchment’s scored earlier this year).
Dallas Stars Lineup
Jason Robertson (21) – Roope Hintz (24) – Evgenii Dadonov (63)
Jamie Benn (14) – Matt Duchene (95) – Wyatt Johnston (53)
Sam Steel (18) – Mavrik Bourque (22) – Logan Stankoven (11)

Esa Lindell (23) – Nils Lundqvist (5)
Brendan Smith (2) – Ilya Lyubushkin (46)
Jake Oettinger (29)
Casey DeSmith (1)
Lineup notes: Ilya Lyubushkin left Tuesday’s game after taking a nasty check in the corner from Rangers forward Sam Carrick. Lyubushkin has played a key role for the Stars blue line this season. The 30-year-old defenseman can be considered day-to-day for now. If he misses Thursday’s game in Philadelphia, Matt Dumba will likely draw into the lineup.
Philadelphia Flyers Lineup
Scott Laughton (21) – Morgan Frost (48) – Matvei Michkov (39)
Tyson Foerster (71) – Noah Cates (27) – Bobby Brink (10)
Owen Tippett (74) – Ryan Poehling (25) – Travis Konecny (11)
Joel Farabee (86) – Sean Couturier (14) – Garnet Hathaway (19)
Travis Sanheim (6) – Cam York (8)
Egor Zamula (5) – Rasmus Ristolainen (55)
Nick Seeler (24) – Jamie Drysdale (9)
Ivan Fedotov (82)
Aleksei Kolosov (35)
Lineup notes: The Flyers have turned to Aleksei Kolosov, a 23-year-old rookie with just a handful of starts this season, and backup Ivan Fedotov, a 28-year-old with even fewer starts, in net recently. Their No. 1 Goaltender Samuel Ersson has dealt with injuries for much of the season and last played Dec. 31 against the Sharks when he left with a lower-body injury after the second period.
Players to Watch
Jamie Benn
The captain has meshed well with Matt Duchene and Wyatt Johnston on the second line. Benn has goals in each of his last three games and five of the last seven. In fact, Benn’s nearly a point-per-game player since December (15 points in 17 games).
Evgenii Dadonov
The man knows how to deliver. Dadonov has racked up nine points in his last nine games, including four goals. The 35-year-old Russian is now playing on the top line alongside Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz. While not the most conventional choice for a top unit, the combination seems to be clicking. Coach Pete DeBoer’s versatile forward contributed a goal and an assist in Tuesday’s 5-4 overtime victory against the Rangers.
Tyson Foerster
Foerster’s a bit of an agitator and has thrived in a middle-six role for the Flyers this season. The 22-year-old forward has racked up six goals and three assists over his last 11 outings. Foerster is up to 12 goals, 19 points and 64 shots over 40 appearances this season.
Travis Konecny
The Flyers forward scored the team’s only two goals Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. Konecny leads Philadelphia in both goals (20) and points (25) and is on track to surpass 200 shots for the third time in his career. He’s the driving force of the Flyers.
