The Dallas Stars will play just their second – and final – home game of February when they take on the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night at the AAC. The Stars, currently riding a three-game home winning streak, have been firing offensively and clash against a stingy Kings squad.
Dallas has been lighting up the scoreboard in recent games, scoring four or more goals in five straight. A key factor in their recent success has been forward Jason Robertson, who has been on a tear of late, contributing heavily to the team’s scoring surge. His shot-making ability and scoring touch have re-established him as a focal point in the Stars’ attack.
How to watch: Puck drop at 7 p.m. from the AAC. Watch on Victory+ and listen to the radio call on The Ticket.
The Stars finished a six-game road trip, split up by the 4 Nations Face-Off, with a 6-4 loss on Tuesday to Columbus after back-to-back wins over the weekend against the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils.
The Stars boast a 20-6-1 record at the AAC and start a much-needed four-game homestand. Dallas sits in second place in the Central Division at 76 points – nine points back of Winnipeg.
Robertson continues to cook
Since the beginning of the 2025 calendar year, Robertson has been lighting it up. In 22 games in 2025, Robertson has 28 points including 15 goals – all team leading. Robertson recorded a hat trick Sunday in a 4-3 win over the Islanders, and he added another goal in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Blue Jackets.
After battling a foot injury earlier this season, Robertson has morphed back into the driving force behind the Stars’ offense, which has been explosive and, at times, unstoppable. The Stars are averaging more than four goals per game over their last 11 with a power play unit that’s been humming near 30-percent since the New Year.
Trade deadline approaches
With the March 7 trade deadline quickly approaching, the Stars are expected to be buyers while eyeing a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas already dealt for Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci – a move that’s flown under the radar a bit considering the other trade that took place in this city around the same time.
Granlund has six points, all assists, in seven games since joining the Stars. He adds scoring depth and experience to a potent offence. The 13-year NHL veteran is closing in on 600 points for his career (595 points in 878 games).
The Stars are likely not finished dealing, however, and could look to bolster their blue line and fill the void left by Mire Heiskanen’s injury. Among the potential trade targets for Dallas include defensemen David Savard (Canadiens), Rasmus Ristolainen (Flyers), Seth Jones (Blackhawks), and Brian Dumoulin (Ducks).

Things to watch
Stars forward Matt Duchene
Duchene score twice and added an assist when the Stars last played the Kings – a 5-4 SO loss on Feb. 7. Duchene, like Robertson, has been on fire since January, scoring 26 points in 22 games. He is currently on pace to finish above a point-per-game pace for just the second time in his career (2021-22 with Nashville).
Kings forward Kevin Fiala
Fiala scored with 23rd goal of the season in Monday’s 5-2 over Vegas. The 28-year-old has had an up-and-down season but has been playing at a high level of late. Fiala has nine points with seven goals in seven games during the month of February, including four multi-point performances.
Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper
Kuemper earned his fourth-straight victory on Monday in the 5-2 win against Vegas. The 34-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season for the Kings, ranking among the league leaders in goals against average (2.21) and save percentage (.918). Los Angeles has allowed the second fewest goals (144) in the NHL this season.
