Three of the four games in the NHL tonight have a direct impact on the Stars playoff chances. The Detroit Red Wings are playing host to the Los Angeles Kings, the New York Rangers are at Chicago and the WInnipeg Jets are up in Calgary. Go Red Wings, Rangers and Jets. The playoff race sure makes strange bedfellows, doesn't it?
As Steve Ott alluded to today on The Ticket, the Stars entire source of "grit" could be sitting in the locker room on Saturday. Sheldon Souray is reportedly out against Anaheim and could be questionable for the following game while Ott and Morrow are both "50/50" for the Anaheim game as well. Can the Stars keep this rolling without three of their most physical players?
I love Gretz, but I hate him using his prowess to try and direct Hully out of Dallas (well, more like trying to get him into St. Louis, but I digress). Our boys FINALLY got an owner; they can't have their ambassador of fun ripped out of their hands right after. Should we try to sqash that thought by getting an #ambassadoroffun campaign going on Twitter?
Phoenix is in serious trouble, folks. Busy, busy night in the NHL -- the Stars can potentially do a lot of damage. Go Philly, Columbus, St. Louis, Nashville, Montreal, Edmonton, Minnesota!
Via Puck Daddy (via CSN Philadelphia) we learn that Nicklas Grossman has not been himself the past six years. In fact, Nicklas Grossman is actually Nicklas Grossmann -- an oversight that apparently began his rookie season and has never been corrected. Glad that's settled, then.
See what happens when you go to the eastern Conference? You get a song! Maybe his recent antics had something to do with it, especially on 24/7. He was a thorn in our side for years and got absolutely no national recognition. But his first year in the East and all of a sudden he's an international superstar! The song sounds like it was done by the same fellow that did the Dirk.....Dirk.....Dirk Nowitzki!
(See the bottom video.) Looks like Bieksa has handled it gracefully... er... well, not exactly. Guess he's not too keen on self deprecation.
Richard Bachman will play in Vancouver Tuesday night, said Glen Gulutzan after practice in Calgary on Monday morning. "You look at our little run here that we've been on and there was that game in Chicago that Richard Bachman was a part of to get us going...He's 7-3 with a .916. You look at our schedule down the road and we'll probably rely on Kari quite extensively for a lot of the time. This is maybe a day, with travel, it sets up good to play Bacher."
I know you're shocked by this, but there are a large number of games that have an impact on the Western Conference race tonight. Of large interest to Dallas Stars fans are Columbus at Phoenix, Pittsburgh at Colorado, Anaheim at Los Angeles and St. Louis at San Jose. As always, please no overtime. And go Blue Jackets, Penguins, Ducks (ew) and Blues.
T-shirt design, just for fun. Nye's play (and the whole team's) has inspired this.
